Alan

Having qualified as a teacher in 2005, Alan has almost two decades experience teaching in schools and has been tutoring for nine. He specialises in Maths, English and 11+ preparation for Key stages 1-4. Alan’s approach to tuition, is characterised by his belief that students make accelerated progress when in an environment that makes them feel safe, comfortable and willing to risk sometimes ‘getting it wrong’ in order to make progress. Consequently, he strives to ensure a positive tutor:student relationship and the learning environment is engaging, accessible and with an appropriate level of challenge. Alan has a keen interest in the environment and enjoys ‘upcycling’ household objects and furniture that would otherwise be thrown away. In the warmer months, Alan takes the opportunity to enjoy his other hobby; gardening.
